The primary goal of the Utah Career Resource Network is to provide support for the state’s comprehensive counseling and guidance program. In addition, the UCRN promotes improved career and education decision-making through the development and distribution/delivery of various career planning resources, including the state-sponsored Career Information Delivery System. These resources help to emphasize the connections between education/training and occupational choice to students, parents and other individuals involved in career transition. The network also trains teachers, counselors, and administrators to better assist students and parents with career exploration and decision-making. |

• The Utah CIDS is the most significant means used to encourage increased levels of student transition to postsecondary. In addition to providing access to information about occupations and the postsecondary preparation needed for entry, the CIDS offers school profiles (including virtual tours and on-line applications) for over 7,000 postsecondary institutions. This year the CIDS was also connected to a program provided by the higher education loan guaranty agency to ensure that students will have increased access to financial aid information.
• Utah offers a toll-free hotline, listserv, and “webinars” training sessions to disseminate information about the products, resources and training provided by the office.
