Advancing Equity in CTE

Career and technical education (CTE) is an excellent opportunity for advancing students’ college and career readiness, yet not all students enter CTE with the same advantages, and persistent and significant gaps in achievement still exist in our schools and CTE programs. The Advancing Equity in CTE project has been funded to identify barriers to equity in CTE, equity trends in CTE, and examples of evidenced based promising practices that advance equity.

To date, the project has conducted a literature review and interviews with state and local CTE stakeholders and classroom teachers, and is developing an online Advancing Equity in CTE toolkit. The online toolkit will provide open-source tools and resources to educate CTE stakeholders about equity in CTE, equity barriers, and promising practices. It will assist education providers in promoting accessible and inclusive learning environments for every CTE learner.
