Perkins IV authorizes the Department of Education to implement national activities to help states develop and implement effective career and technical education programs and accountability system. For the past several years, Congress has appropriated roughly $7.6 million dollars for such initiatives

Spotlight: U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education Program

On June 22, 2015, President Obama signed an Executive Order to establish a U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education Program. This Executive Order will enable the Presidential Commission to choose up to 20 students each year to be selected on the basis of outstanding scholarship and demonstrated ability and accomplishment in career and technical education.
