Perkins IV authorizes the Department of Education to implement national initiatives and activities to help states develop and implement effective career and technical education programs and accountability systems. For the past several years, Congress has appropriated roughly $7.6 million dollars for such initiatives.

Spotlight: 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education Program Announced

On May 4, 2016 the Department announced the 52nd class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, recognizing their accomplishments in academic, the arts, and, for the first time, career and technical education (CTE).
