National FFA Federal Charter

The National FFA Organization (identified as the Future Farmers of America) operates under a Federal Charter passed in 1950 by the 81st Congress of the United States, recognizing the importance of the FFA as an integral part of school-based public instruction in agriculture, food and natural resources (AFNR). In 1998, the 105th Congress of the United States reviewed and passed technical amendments to Public Law 81-740 to the current Public Law 105-225.

The U.S. Department of Education through the Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE) provides leadership and helps set direction for the FFA as a service to state and local agricultural education programs.
