Rigorous Programs of Study (RPOS) Initiative

This initiative provides funds for partnerships among state agencies responsible for secondary education, postsecondary institutions, business/industry, and other key stakeholders and develops articulation agreements that will allow students to gain college credit in high school and transfer credits to and between postsecondary institutions on their way to a certificate or degree. State-level partnerships document their work to capture promising approaches for creating effective partnerships and developing articulation agreements that could be replicated by other states. In FY 2008, grants were awarded to six states for a two year period. A second round of grants is tentatively scheduled for FY 2010.
