State Information

The Division of Academic and Technical Education administers one of the department’s largest formula grant programs under the Perkins IV Act which provides approximately $1.1 billion annually to states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands (collectively referred to as "states”). States generally distribute these federal funds by formula to local education agencies, area vocational and technical schools, community colleges, and other public or private nonprofit institutions that offer but not limited to developing rigorous technical programs of study, providing professional development, offering guidance and counseling services, purchasing state-of-the-art equipments and instructional materials, and developing effective accountability systems.
